Our Growing Conditions

Our plants are grown in a variety of conditions that depend on the needs of the species. If you have questions about the growing conditions of a specific plant, please feel free to send us a message.

HUMIDITY (ambient)

Our normal ambient humidity sits at around 40-60% depending on the time of year; BEFORE the use of humidifiers. Propagations and seedlings will likely be kept in bins where humidity may reach up to 100%. Please keep this in consideration as they will need to be acclimated to lower humidity appropriately - seedlings are recommended to be kept in high humidity until they begin to grow out and are able to better handle the transition to ambient conditions.

LIGHTING (ambient)

We use a combination of indoor grow lights (Barrina T5 + Sansi bulbs) and natural lighting from Southern and Eastern exposures. Artificial lighting is provided from 10:00AM EST - 12:00AM EST for a total of 14 hours per day. Many of the Anthurium in our collection enjoy lower light conditions; if you notice chlorotic leaves, or leaves facing away from a light source, it may be an indication of the plant receiving too much light.

GROW TENT CONDITIONS (AC Infinity)

Humidity: 85 - 95%

Lighting: Barrina T5s

Temperature:70-80°F

NUTRIENT SOLUTION

Our current fertilization routine includes the following products:

  • Silica (Bloom City)
  • Cal-Mag (General Hydroponics)
  • Super Microbe Root Fertilizer (Bloom City)
  • Clean Kelp Seaweed Fertilizer (Bloom City)
  • FloraBloom, FloraMicro, FloraGro (General Hydroponics)
  • Alaska Fish Fertilizer

Please refer to the manufacturer for instructions on use. Additionally, we apply Great White Mycorrhizal Fungi directly to roots during repots. Tailoring your nutrient solution to fit your needs often takes time and experimentation - we recommend you do your own research to ensure your own routine aligns with your growing conditions and plants needs as closely as possible.

PEST PREVENTION

When you collect plants you will unavoidably come in contact with pests. While we maintain our best efforts to ensure our plants are pest free - we always recommend following your normal pest prevention/treatment routine when adding a new plant into your collection. It is also good practice to isolate any new additions to prevent the spread of any potential pests in the event that something was overlooked. Our current prevention routine includes:

  • Castille Soap
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Bonide Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew
  • Bonide Captain Jack's Mite-X
  • Bonide Systemic Granules
  • Sevin Sulfur Dust (Applied as a foliar spray)

Remember, you do not need to replicate our conditions to have success growing our plants! This information is provided only so you may better understand the conditions they are coming from so they may be transitioned into your environment successfully. If you have any questions regarding our care routines or product information - please do not hesitate to contact us! Happy growing!
